Happy Winter Solstice!!! The days are getting longer and nights, shorter. On December 21st is when one  of the Earth’s hemispheres is at maximum tilt away from the sun. This occurs twice a year, one time in each hemisphere. The Winter Solstice, also known as midwinter or hibernal solstice, marks the official beginning of winter. It is the shortest day of the year, with about 9 hours and 8 minutes between sunrise and sunset in New Milford PA.
